Bluetooth pairing, while not terribly secure, ought to be secure enough to use within your home. The only data you should be transferring is audio files. And bluetooth allows pairing with headphones and microphones, very useful with a DAP. Meanwhile, if you need security, anything wireless will never be as secure as simply connecting a wire, or transferring via an SD card. Since you'll want the hardware off to save power whenever not actually intending to transfer, you don't have to worry about someone hijacking or snooping on your device when you're not looking, anyway.
