I just had a short look at the source code: it seems lynx is
displaying the table row-wise, i.e. it first displays all captions of
one line, then the grouped links as those are inside of the same cell.
Then the next line, etc. Looking close one can still find the target
names as alternate text for the images. But as the caption is
displayed first this is somewhat confusing, especially as the image
alternates is only the internal short name and not the "user friendly"
one.
The current build page doesn't use <th> elements so this problem doesn't occur.

Btw, elinks is much better coping with the table.
