Hi Michael, Now, forgive me if this just isn't helpful but, I've had the
Ipod 80GB Video for some while now and it works pretty well with Rockbox.
One or two glitches but nothing major.

Hi folks
 
My name is Michael, I live in the UK, and I think I may have just made an
expensive mistake!
 
On a recent visit to Orlando I decided to become one of the World's Ipod
users, and purchased a new Ipod 80gb Classic. I asked the apple salesman
about speach compatibility as I am blind, but he was not aware of any such
Ipod. I asked if he had heard about Rockbox, and he hadn't. He said he
would look it up via google, which he did and we discussed its instalation
etc. He sold me the Classic, tole me he would advise future blind buyers of
the software and told me I shouldn't have any problems installing and using
Rockbox.
 
I've just looked at the website and I now see a problem. It says that
Rockbox doesn't work witht eh Classic, is this true? If yes, will it soon
work or is there anything I can do to make it work? Is there an alternative
program I can buy or download that anyone knows about. Help me out here,
I'm desperate. If I'm not using this thing in the next couple of days then
my wife will start asking why not, then she will realise that this was a
waste of $260, and I'll be stuffed.
