Some of the private responses I've gotten when I've attempted to remind

I would like to remind you: There is no guideline that says we can't
publicly enforce rules. Nor do members of the list get to write new ones.

Direct attacks happen often, though rarely in public. Dominik was made
to feel unwelcome, and frankly, neither you nor I witnessed the full
exchange he was exposed to. If he chose to leave the list, he felt he
had good reason. I do know for a fact he was contacted privately, though
I don't know what was said, and that the private contact is what made
him choose to leave. If you want to get upset about his leaving, get
upset at the person who felt he couldn't just drop the issue, but had to
harass a developer in private as well beyond simply offering his opinion
in public and leaving it at that. I'm quite certain if it had just been
left to the public comments, it wouldn't have been enough to cause him
to leave.
