Subject: List rules

List rules

From: Charles McEvoy <charles_at_mcevoy.com>
Date: Mon, 7 Jul 2008 00:06:53 +0100

Following on from "Subject: Re: Working with a used archos jukebox 6000" which
has, ironically, become a thread about list rules without anyone altering the
subject to reflect the content (which is, I believe, accepted netiquette?) :
would it not be possible for an automated filter to be put in place to trap
the top-posting that so annoys some of the regular users? The offending post
could be bounced with some indication of the problem and the rest of the list
wouldn't see it until the bot was happy. I'm sure some problems would still
get through but at least the 'new text appears above old' and 'long post is
copied in its entirety with only a short or trivial answer' problems could be
trapped before humans became annoyed by them.
A little Summer of Code project for someone??
Charles.
