I was doing: rsync -r --size-only /cygdrive/c/1/tools/rockbox/.rockbox /cygdrive/i Changed to the following fixed it: rsync -r /cygdrive/c/1/tools/rockbox/.rockbox /cygdrive/i It hadn't occurred to me that the rockbox.ipod file would be the identical size to the byte after the upgrade.
