I think with "Folders" you mean Menu entrys ? All menus use the
voicefile for speech, Files and Folder use .talk clips to speak.
This .talk files should always work, even when you update/change the
rockbox build.

But the Voicefile needs to fit the .lang file in the build. If there are
new/changed or removed strings in the .lang file, the voice file will be
out of sync, and speak wrong entrys. This is a limitation with the way
voicefiles currently work.

So when you change/update your build on the player, you should also
download/regenerate a new voicefile for it. (easy for official builds,
difficult for custom/unsupported builds)
