Hi,

It takes some getting used to, but is nowhere near as bad as some make it
out to be.

You hardly need to use it when its in a pocket - for skipping songs, for
example, you press on it - but for volume, its easy to change, and there's a
hold switch on the ipod video when you don't want it being jostled. You can
also do what I do and get a case for the player. That worked well for me and
everything I need is at my fingertipps.
