I think I am missing something here:

I have an old Archos Jukebox Recorder (upgraded to 120 GB) with Rockbox
2.5 on it and I can shutdown by "double-clicking" (double-pressing) the
OFF button (if I am running on batteries). The splash screen (showing
"shutting down") appears immediately and THEN the disk spins up,
afterwards it shuts off.

Has this behaviour changed in newer versions?
I hope not.
