Sansa e280: no files shown anymore? Player does freeze.

Hello,

I have a problem with my Sansa e280 (v1). From one day to the other the
player does not work anymore. The rockbox file manager does only show
directories, but no more files. Also rockbox is freezing after some
clicks when navigating through the empty directories. But I was able to
play a rockbox game ("jewels" or whatever its name is).

I am using the current Rockbox 3.2 stable version.

I did not connect the player to a PC before the problems occured, I just
did listen to some music and turned the player off normally. The next
day when turning it on again it did continue to play music, but with a
completely different track that was not in the playlist originally. When
trying to navigate into the directory of the album I wanted to hear, the
player did freeze and now it shows the symptoms described above.

Booting the original firmware does work and it was able to play mp3 files.

I thought that the filesystem structure might be corrupted, so I
connected the player (and the 8GB microSDHC) to my Linux PC and did an

        fsck.vfat -aV /dev/sdfX

on the two devices (but not the hidden system partition). This did not
show any problems. I could mount the partitions and everything does look
fine so far. All files are present, but rockbox still does not see them.

But an "fdisk -l" does look strange.
-------------------------------------------------
Disk /dev/sdf: 8042 MB, 8042577920 bytes
248 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1021 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 15376 * 512 = 7872512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdf1 1 1019 7833300 b W95 FAT32
Partition 1 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
      phys=(0, 9, 34) logical=(0, 9, 43)
Partition 1 has different physical/logical endings:
      phys=(207, 60, 45) logical=(1018, 232, 48)
Partition 1 does not end on cylinder boundary.
/dev/sdf2 1019 1022 20480 84 OS/2 hidden C: drive
Partition 2 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
      phys=(207, 60, 46) logical=(1018, 232, 49)

Partition 2 has different physical/logical endings:
      phys=(209, 200, 55) logical=(1021, 149, 26)

Partition 2 does not end on cylinder boundary.
-------------------------------------------------

* Is this fdisk output normal?

* Does anybody have some hints, what I should try?

* Can/Should I fschk the hidden system partition somehow? Which
filesystem type does it have?

* Should I reinstall rockbox or delete the configs?

Thank you,
Arno
