Some Sansas are likely to be unstable with any firmware. In particular,
there seems to have been an especially bad run of C200s at some point.
Frankly, the only thing to recommend them is that they run rockbox and
Woot refurbs are cheap (which is why I've got a pile o' Sansas).

I've used full-speed USB for some time (slow, but less obnoxious than the
execrable OF), and the current, faster implementation since it was enabled
by default with excellent results. Naturally, YMMV.

Bottom line is that it's likely that the OPs problem was with Sansa
firmware, so probably nothing the rockbox developers can do about it
except get a reliable USB stack in release.
