There is no need to have the cursor placed somewhere by default. You
should check the whole repeated text anyway and delete everything that
is not needed to understand your answer. So if the cursor is on top by
default you would need to move down cutting out most of the original
post while if the cursor starts at the bottom you have to move up doing
the same (which maybe a bit unintuitive so starting on top seems to be
slightly better).

Nevertheless, whatever you comment to (stays undeleted) should be above
your answer. In general this should not be the whole text you answer to.
It's just like reading a forum where you will also have a chronological
arrangement of text.

I am often wondering why people are top-posting at all. They have to be
annoyed by this kind of replies too when they read them. But it seems
they don't even notice the difference.
