There's no accounting for bad manners sometimes ;) but there is a possible argument for this cardinal rule of the list not being obvious enough - a really obvious hyperlinked warning on the signup page would make it totally clear and obvious; it could say "Remember the etiquette: DO NOT TOP POST OR YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE LIST" in big red allcaps, and its link could point to a locked forum thread explaining why and highlighting the etiquette they must abide by. Further threads could be opened to discuss this - perhaps in their own dedicated Rockbox Discussion Etiquette subforum. That's why I think a forum URL would serve this purpose better than a static archive thread link, which would necessitate further emails to the list to discuss down the line (whereas you can effectively corral discussion on this topic in just one topic, and dip into it as you see fit). And it would segregate talk about the list and talk of the list, allowing the volume to decrease and relevancy to increase once again :) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rockbox FAQ: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GeneralFAQ Etiquette: http://www.rockbox.org/mail/etiquette.html Received on 2009-07-14 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
