Is "We ask that people please not top post to this list. If you're
having difficulty getting your client not to, ask on the list and we can
help" a telling off? I'd love to hear how to phrase it even better.

Now, if I commonly said "Do not top post to this list. It is completely
unacceptable and you will be moderated if you do so again" I'd accept
this line of reasoning, but it's rather clear the problem is more a
general objection to *what* is being asked, rather than how it's asked.

This is hilarious - I've never once, ever, kicked someone off this list.
Please, try to learn what you're talking about before making accusations.

This is the rockbox-moderated list. The community is free to start its
own list if it disagrees with the rules here.
