Well, as for your usb device not being recognized, you'll want to be
sure that it isn't in mtp mode.
If it is already in msc mode, which is where you want it, with the
device disconnected, try powering the device off and holding down the
power button for about 10 to 15 seconds, then reconnect it to the
computer. You shouldn't need any xp drivers.
Don't know how much you've read or already know about Rockbox so not
meaning to sound like a jerk... but you'll probably need to get the
Sanza updater as well as a copy of the firmware. I'll leave the
instructions provided on the rockbox site to say the rest as I don't
want to get it wrong, as it is different then working with the v1 players.
I can say that that version 123 does work and after a two-year wait, my
e200 v2 is happily running Rockbox now, and I just want to extend a
huge thanks to the developers for this one.
For the curious, the first thing to be played was a selection of my
Best Friend's music and then a copy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The
Moon, which the original Sanza firmware never could make it all the way
through, and not even one glitch or skip. Battery info and all the
other things I tested worked just fine, I've yet to test the f.m.
radio, but I've got a good feeling about it. Now must reaquaint myself
with the Rockbox manual.

I actually did take a trip through all the forum posts on that thread
and got to see how much work went into digging out even the most basic
information about these critters, and learned a lot along the way.
Most of it I don't have a deep understanding of, but I'm really happy with it.
Thanks again all... Long live Rockbox!
Cheereo!
