Rockbox mail archiveSubject: errors decoding mp3 recorded on Archos Jukebox Recorder 20errors decoding mp3 recorded on Archos Jukebox Recorder 20

Date: Sun, 22 Nov 2009 16:09:49 -0800 I just did something a bit silly but I've got my fingers crossed that someone can help. I just did some recording using an ancient version of rockbox. The info screen on my Archos Jukebox Recorder 20 says version 2.1. I should have upgraded first. Or maybe folks here will tell me I should have bought a newer mp3 recorder but that's a bit of a different question. In any case, what's done is done and I have an ~65 minute mp3 file that plays fine on the device but when I transfer it to my windows machine, I can't find a media player to play it all the way through. foobar2000 chokes, as does iTunes, Audacity and WMP. By choke, I mean foobar2000 and iTunes stop in the middle. WMP and Audacity keep playing but the audio turns into gibberish. Version 3.97 and 3.98.2 of lame both crash when trying to decode it. When I attach the device to my windows machine, I calculate the same md5 signature on both the file on the device and the file on my desktop so I don't think there was an error copying the file over. http://www.gromkov.com/faq/repair/mp3_validator.html is able to repair the file to make it playable, but it ends up truncating the file at the spot where foobar2000, iTunes and WMP have trouble (~23 minutes in). The free version of switch: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html decodes it to a .wav file but leaves me with silence after the troubling spot. I'm looking for help decoding this file. I grabbed the rockbox source code and am looking into building the relevant bits of code for a desktop target. No idea if that's feasible or if the Archos hardware is doing the magic here. Please let me know if I should move this over to the developers list. Thanks much for any ideas you have. Thanks. -DB ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rockbox FAQ: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GeneralFAQ Etiquette: http://www.rockbox.org/mail/etiquette.html Received on 2009-11-23 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
