this is because properties of a track are I believe handled by a plug in,
which of course at the moment are not voiced.
as for speech not working when a track is paused, again this is an issue,
speech will not work when a track is paused, but as I understand it would
need a lot of work doing to fix.
* I don't know how to write code, but I wonder if the music could continue
to play, so to speak, into the buffer, thus allowing the properties to talk,
because the device word, in a sense, not know it was paused once the menues
were activated, the music would start playing into a buffer, and the smenus
could be heard. I suppose it would have to distinguish between the music
and the menu audio.

Your suggestion sounds like the situation we have at the moment whereby you
can still access the menus if you start playing an entire directory (in
order to get to the now playing screen after playback has started) where the
menus can still be heard. I'm assuming if a similar setup could be
implemented for this current situation it may work, but I'm not familiar
with the way Rockbox does things to comment for certain.
 
 
plug ins being voiced were a gsoc project some years ago, being worked on by
tom ross, the task is still open on the tracker but it hasn't been updated
in well ages, and I tried e mailing Tom to ask about its status but he did
not reply, though he does appear to still be active in the community.

I was wondering if anyone could confirm whether voicing of track properties
works for them? If I long press select whilst a track is playing or when on
pause, and then select properties, the information is not voiced.
