Hold up a second guys. Give me some time to make popcorn.

The IR remote sounds like a good idea. Even if it doesn't really apply to the Rockbox software (firmware?), it's still a hack to me, and in the spirit of Rockbox I vote (do we even have voting?) to keep it. Heck, there may even be a fork of the IR project, giving birth to yet another open source tool that works with Rockbox.
I can't imagine the number of times that I search for some obscure piece of hardware, needing pinouts or even an internal schematic, only to find it through a Google search on some ancient cached Geocities page. Right now I'm looking for the pinout or schematic for a laptop adapter for the older Timex Datalink watches.
