Subject: iRiver H320 sceren issue

iRiver H320 sceren issue

Hi there,

Perhaps this is not the right place to ask this but I'm wodnering if
anybody is familar with the iRiver H3XX hardware enough to begin to
diagnose the issue I'm facing?

Basically about a year ago, I dropped my iriver and the screen went blank
(the backlight works but no image). I [perhaps foolishly) bashed in the
opposite direction and sure enough the screen came up again. This keeps
happing every time I drop it or knock it. Sometimes the screen partially
works but looks like the image is skewed.

To me, this suggests that something is loose inside the device but opening
it up reveals nothing out ordinary. Could the sceen itself be damaged and
causing this? What does the image-skewing effect suggest?

I have another (broken, my brothers - another story) iRiver that I could
swap screens with but I noticed that the connection to the m/board is
partially soldered and didn't fancy ruining my device completely. Is it
worth the risk?

Any help would be greatfully recieved - I love my Rockboxed iRiver and
couldn't imagine life without it :-) Plus, replacements are basically
impossible to find nowadays...

Cheers,

Mat
