Following your suggestions I installed the Rockbox simulator (didn't know about that, thanks) - I actually ran it under Virtualbox on my Gentoo Linux box. I also installed mediainfo, and learned a few things: - the .aac files that get_iplayer downloads seem to be 'raw' aac files. I gather that Rockbox can't normally play these. - the ffmpeg command I was using wasn't creating a genuine mp4 container for the .aac content. I haven't been able to discover whether this is sdown to my misuse, or a deficiency in ffmpeg. - the application MP4Box (available on Liux at least) can be successfully used to put the .aac files into an mp4 container: MP4Box -new -add myfile.aac myfile.mp4 using this I have been able to create .mp4 files which play happily on the Rockbox. I am very pleased... Thanks again J^n ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rockbox FAQ: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GeneralFAQ Etiquette: http://www.rockbox.org/mail/etiquette.html Received on 2011-03-08 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
