iPod Nano 2Gen, changing firmware ?

Hi, i have used Rockbox in the past with a iPod Nano original 4GB i believe it was.
Many years ago, i lost this finely crafted gem of a player and went on with my life, Rockbox-less.
Today i discovered that the Nano 2G build was stable and prepped it with the same wonderful FW. Everything works really well, as i remember it bit i still am a little confused.
Previously i remember to boot in to Rockbox on the original iPod Nano, i just used menu+select for a hard reset to boot in to Rockbox, with “hold” switch activated. And for the Apple Firmware i left “Hold” untouched.
I’ve noticed twice that when the FW crashes which it has it seems unable to boot in to rockbox, leaving my only option to reinstall using the Rockbox utillity. And now, it’s only booting in to rockbox, and i seem unable to select the Apple firmware.
What is the correct procedure to boot in to Rockbox, and how do i access the Apple Firmware as i need to ?
Anyways, great work on the iPod Nano build. I’m considering buying a iPod Classic for the Classic build, as i’m borrowing this Nano for testing purposes. Hope someone figures out more about the Classic.
