Yes it does sound like some of your issues are similar to mine.
so maybe there is a common problem here that someone could now perhaps work
out how to fix.
in the meantime i have gone back to a stable build.

I'm glad that someone else brought this up. I have a similar problem
here, but the difference is that I am using an iPod Video 5th gen instead.

About a couple of months ago, I updated to the latest build and all
seemed fine. That is until I went into the recent bookmarks menu where
no voice was heard--not the menu voice or the voice tags. There were a
handful of bookmarks and I could scroll through them, but no voice.

About a week ago, I gave it another shot with the latest build and found
a different problem. The menu voice and voice tags play fine, but as
soon as an audio file is played, the menu voice seemingly dies. Before
the upgrade, I could pull up the Quick Screen with voice feedback whilst
listening to music or an audiobook. I could also navigate the menus
with both voices as feedback during audio playback as well. Stopping
the audio playback brings me back to the main menu, but both the menu
voice and voice tags remain silent until a full reset of the device.

I can't begin to guess what is going on, but it would be nice to have an
updated build that works. If anyone could fix this bug, I'd be
extremely grateful! :) Smileyface!
