I read the thread but couldn't work our exactly what the symptom is. When
you say you cannot get a peep out of it, what does that actually mean,
specifically? Does the screen show "Rockbox" when booting, do the menus
work, and audio playback works fine, but it just doesn't "talk" the menus
and files?
Or does the screen not even show "Rockbox" when booting?
Or maybe rockbox boots ok, but the menus don't work? Or just audio playback
doesn't work?

Might be best to clarify the exact symptom before people spend time
guessing what you could try to fix?
