RE: ipod classic

I was not asking about how much specific battery life i might get, as this
will of course depend on my usage patterns.
i was asking about battery life on the ipod classic with rockbox vs. the
ipod classic normal firmware, 'all things being equal'.
this is a reasonable question. it goes to understanding how much less one
can expect when using rockox so i can understand if it is worth buying an
ipod classic.
The question has been answered now... it has been suggested that about half
the battery life is a reasonable expectation all things being equal.
FYI i will be mostly playing mp3, mp4, aac and ogg files and that's about
it.
I am used to a sandisk sansa fuse with rockbox which has recently failed so
i need a new player - and am trying to decide whether to get another fuse or
an ipod classic and see how that goes.

With so many different usage patterns, how do you expect us to answer ?

It also depends on how your music is encoded, not including any plugins you
might utilise.
To correctly assess all of this, it is required that you put some effort in
to learning how this setup fits your needs.
Now, backing up a iPod Classic is fully possible, even with today's inflated
hard drive-prices.

Hope you will benefit from the Rockbox firmware on your iPod.

Daniel.
