Subject: Re: Rockbox utility 1.2.6

Re: Rockbox utility 1.2.6

Regarding the creation of voice files - I'm a blind user of RockBox and have
found that creating the voice files hasn't worked for me either. Neither has
the TalkFiles option.
Having said that, I must qualify this by noting I use a Sansa Clip Zip,
which is listed as being unstable, so my failure to successfuly create a
voice file for it may very well be a result of me using an "unstable"
device.
This is why I haven't pursued the voice file creation issue.
I also wanted to use my home computer's screen reading speech synthesis
software package to make the voice files. Now that is an adventure in
following the RockBox instructions. The manual has some holes in it simply
because it "isn't done yet" - so I'm not going to pursue the matter.
I have pretty much put voice file creation or TalkFile creation on hold
until a RockBox upgrade is built that will say my device isno longer
"unstable."
Having said that, I must say that a clip zip is a very enjoyable device to
use, and it will be a great deal more enjoyable once more of the bugs get
killed.
Just my opinion, but the RB folks are doing a pretty good job.

You can't get 1.2.6 from the rockbox servers any more.

What *exactly* is the problem you have with 1.2.12 though? Did you try
it, or are you just assuming that the vague claims earlier in this
thread are correct (vague, because they didn't state exactly what the
problem was or which version was affected).

It has been pointed out to me that there *was* a problem in earlier
versions (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/12106). I didn't find
that one when I looked earlier because (surprise!) it has been fixed
in the latest release and was therefore closed.
