PS: If your problem is that you can't find the original iRiver firmware on 
iRiver's website (I agree it's not well indexed or easily searchable), try:

if is the h series you should use the last release and install it via
installer, for both you have links on home page of rockbox:

otherwise i don't know. for my e300 i do not have possibility to install
rockbox
