Rockbox mail archiveSubject: Seeking in opus files leads to PANICSeeking in opus files leads to PANIC

Date: Sat, 04 Oct 2014 03:26:57 +0000 Salutation: this Rockbox is some pretty awesome software! Hardware: Sansa Clip Zip, AMSv2 variant 1 Software: boot 4.0; 515a3c5-140924, and others Problem: Seeking or bookmark starts with opus files may cause Rockbox to crash. When I seek files encoded with the Opus codec (.opus extension, in an Ogg container), the system may occasionally crash and present the following screen: ---------------- *PANIC* Stkov codec pc:300685E8 sp:3 A: 30091AF8 bt end ---------------- Any keypress reboots the unit, but any attempt to restart playback of the offending file will then generate this screen: ---------------- Undefined instru ---------------- Any keypress again reboots the unit, but the system will /not/ successfully play the offending file again until the system is powered down normally and powered back up. In addition, the problem is not necessarily limited to seeking activity. In some circumstances, if the file is restarted partway through via a bookmark, the above panic is also manifest. I have not noticed the issue in any other codecs (e.g. Vorbis). And the issue is not affected by the setting of [Settings->Playback Settings->Frequency] (IIRC Opus files decode uniformly at 48kHz regardless of the sample rate of the source material). The problem is more likely to manifest itself when the file is long (not necessarily large). I routinely play opus files over 2h runtime at bitrates =< 32kbits/s. If problematic files are started at the beginning, and never seeked, the panic will not occur during play and file playback will end normally. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rockbox FAQ: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GeneralFAQ Etiquette: http://www.rockbox.org/mail/etiquette.html
