If you don't mind a player without rockbox, iRiver made a wide range of stick format flash memory players that were powered by a single AA or AAA battery which can be rechargeable if you want. The best players were not necessarily the most recent as at some stage the firmware seemed to offer less functions (which were really user friendly), and the screen displayed less track info (and so on…). On the other hand the older ones have less flash memory (We are talking about 1~16Gb players !). These players were very well made, if you find a cheap one second hand & in good condition, it's probably worth a try.
