I think the better approach is do this outside of your MP3 player.

Save your current config file and then connect to your computer via USB
and  then edit and save or rename the .cfg file in the .rockbox
directory for your connected device. You may want to check the rockbox
manual for your device.

For example, save current and then edit on computer and rename. Then use
your MP3 player, change settings and save current. You then have two
.cfg files.

What I really suggest is you take advantage of  the fixed.cfg file. Get
the file exactly as you like and save it as fixed.cfg. Rockbox will then
automati cally apply the file everytime you startup rockbox, so that
changes you made while listening go away on a startup.

You probably want to set it so that .cfg files are always opened with a
text editor.
