Rockbox mail archiveSubject: iPod from scratchiPod from scratch

Date: Mon, 4 Nov 2019 03:51:33 +0100 Hi I'm trying to re-install Rockbox on an iPod video and I have been wondering whether it is possible to do so without using iTunes. The iPod runs with a CF card so it's easy enough to put data on it, I just don't quite know *what* to put there. Now, from what I understand, the disk needs two partitions: one with iPod magic and one with the music. While the music partition would seem to be trivial to set up, I have not been able to find much information about the data on the first partition. Rockbox does appear to have a bunch of tools to interact with that data (such as ipod_fw and scramble) but I couldn't quite figure out how to use them, they all seem to be made to work with existing images rather than creating them from scratch. Is what I'm trying to possible at all using current Rockbox tools or would I have to extract binary blobs from the current card and put them on the new one? cheers -- Stefan Ott https://www.ott.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: http://cool.haxx.se/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/rockbox FAQ: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GeneralFAQ Etiquette: http://www.rockbox.org/mail/etiquette.htmlReceived on 2019-11-04 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
