A couple of possibilities to try before trying to fix the hardware.

Have you tried a hard reboot?
Somewhere I thought I learned that if you hold the power button (at the
top) for 30 seconds you get a deeper boot. I checked the Clip Zip manual
and couldn't find it. So it might have been from a different Sansa
player. But why not give it a try?

You might also want to check if you can boot into the original firmware
as a rockbox installation on the clip zip keeps the original . Hold down
the volume down rocker and press the power button. I just tested this on
my clip zip. If the Sansa firmware works, you might want to delete
Rockbox and do a new install. Read the manual for details.
