I'm a big fan of the original xDuoo X3, which can still be found
relatively easily via eBay for non-ridiculous prices. The crappy screen
doesn't matter at all to blind users, and the odd control layout, along
with its large easily-distinguisied buttons, makes it very easy to
operate by touch.

Of course you'll need help to get the initial rockbox load onto the X3
(as you will with pretty much any device).
