I think they're the same, but I don't know for sure - I'll take a look when I get home. One thing to be aware of is the scroll wheel will sometimes drop the first click when you start scrolling - that might not be ideal without voicing I imagine! The Previous/Next buttons appear to be used for menu navigation in the original firmware as well, those should be much more reliable navigation I think.

On my Surfans in front of me at least, a fresh boot into the original firmware starts at "Explorer", and the menu cycles through the following entries by pressing the Next button (down):

Explorer, Settings, System Settings, Category

Under System settings, if you press Previous (up), the list wraps around to the following entries (listed in order according to pressing the Previous button):

About the Player, Firmware Update, Reset

About the Player will be necessary just to check the original firmware version, and Reset can be used to reformat your SD card if desired.

Clicking Reset brings up two options, Format TF card and Factory Default, with Format TF card selected by default. If you click on Format TF card, it will confirm Yes or No, with No selected by default. The Previous/Next buttons can be used to select Yes here as well.

Firmware Update asks for confirmation Yes or No as well, with No selected by default.

I'll double-check when I get home to make sure the HifiWalker is the same layout as the Surfans, but I hope that all helps.

It depended on what made sense for that specific functionality. (If that makes sense - Hah!)
