Subject: New Forum Proposal

New Forum Proposal

It has been suggested that our forum layout could use improvement. I've been
thinking a bit about this, and it's been turning over in my head. I'm not
100% sure if this is best put on the "development" list or the normal list,
but it feels to me like the site itself is for most practical purposes a
part of the Rockbox project, and that development of the site would qualify.
I'll post this to the other list if you all disagree.

Anyway, I've put together a quick wiki page outlining a potential new
layout, as well as a quick explanation behind why I thought that might be a
good one. It's already been suggested that we cannot completely eliminated
Hardware Specific forums (regarding for example installation instructions,
or hardware-specific questions) and I think that perhaps trimming it down to
one forum per general hardware architecture, and dropping forums for targets
that don't have a properly functioning port (iFP, Gigabeat for the moment):
-H100/H300/iAudio X5 (yes, for the X5 the install is quite different, but it
falls into the m68k target category, which means bugs relating to processor
quirks may overlap, and other hardware specific bugs are probably going to
be minimal anyway.)
-iPod (All)
-Archos Player, Recorder, FMR, Ondio (It is my opinion these can be lumped.
I also don't know enough about them to support this opinion under any fire
other than 'I think their install processes are almost the same, and they
use the same processor' so someone more knowledgeable with a valid split is
welcome to intervene.)

Anyway, the proposal outline is here:

Comments very welcome.
