That version of vmware in fact is a 360-day long time evaluation
version. So no real full licence (but it was unlimited by all other
means). Btw, it was in c't 20/05 -- maybe you know somebody near you
who still has it.

Another option would be to build a colinux environment. Haven't tried
it yet, but from what I heard this could be a nice solution for
running linux stuff under windows. I guess the colinux image could be
distributed similar to the vmware image.

Or install Linux natively :P (I'm dual-booting and like it pretty
much, especially since hibernate is working reliably)
