I can understand that supporting such different UI units creates more problems than it
solves. I haven't checked the market but Players must be hard to get hold of these days
too. So it will be forgotten sometime.

The UI stuff seems likely to benefit in two ways by a split. New units can be given a
more attractive UI and the Player could potentially equally be made easier to code for
too by removing the bitmap display code etc.

My only questions are:
 - Are there no parts of the system that still could benefit from beeing maintained for
all versions or is backporting the easiest way to go?
 - Would a daily build, webbpages, documentation etc for the Player _branch_ still be
within the scope of the RockBox project?
