Ah... It hadn't occurred to me that I might need to replace everything
under .rockbox. I had rebuilt from a fresh CVS copy but had replaced only
the rockbox.iaudio file. Now I reinstalled a fresh .rockbox directory, and
it works better! Sorry for all the fuss.

It's still not working right, things seem to die when the voice says
something while music is playing, but apparently it's caused by some other
commit...! Stil need to work out which :-).
