The SimplifiedGuideToCompiling wiki page link I gave you earlier has a link to the page. See http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/VMwareDevelopmentPlatform HI Ok I had a look at that page can I just use cygwin instead? I don't know about how this works with a screen reader, you might want to connect using ssh to the virtual machine. Don't know how good putty or other ssh clients work with screen readers though but that will be a programm running locally on windows. Ok > So If I install cygwin would it be in the cygwin window? > Or a command prompt window? You start the window through a cygwin entry. It looks the same as a usual command prompt window (but runs somewhat different). So do you start cygwin with a program short cut or through a command prompt window? When I install cygwin will anything from my computer such as files be uploaded to the rockbox site or any other internet sites or will it just download? Also I get a list of about 90 ftp sites to choose from which one do I select? Does it matter, when I am installing cygwin. And if it is a patch file would I type the following line to add it "patch -p0 < patchfile.patch" Without the quotes. Also if I install cygwin will any changes be made to my computer or any settings changed? Something different: your mail client doesn't insert quotation characters in the quoted text. This makes it quite hard to read. I don't know if this is intentional, but if it isn't it would be nice if you could fix that. I am using Microsoft outlook. If you tell me what setting to change I will do that. Thanks for all your help.
