Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2007 16:46:50 -0600 New Proposed date: The weekend of the 15-17th in June. Anyone have issues with this date? If so, don't be shy! I did another chunk of research into a suite for us. I have narrowed all of them into 3 rooms: 750 GR at Mandalay bay ( http://www.mandalaybay.com/accommodations/gcJuniorSuite.aspx ); Venetian Bella Suite at the Venetian (site is completely javascript so I can only link you to http://www.venetian.com/ ); and a One-bedroom suite at the Signature at MGM Grand ( http://www.signaturemgmgrand.com/Suites/One-Bedroom.aspx ). I have pretty much decided for the latter for reasons listed below. You can see a map that shows other hotels in walking distance and the general relation of everything on the strip here: http://www.lasvegas.com/lounge/map.html . Mandalay Bay: 1 room A bit smaller working area Large tub (for those nights when we just want to kick back, turn on the jets and chat) (big negative) The internet both wired and wireless and is $12 a day, and from the phone call, everyone would need to pay it as it is per client. Although, we might be able to fudge something up with a router and dd-wrt, I would rather not bother with it if we can help it. Venetian: 1 room with a separator between beds and working area Better layout for what we want to do than Mandalay (big negative) They said I cant have more than 4 people in the room at a time due to fire safety which rules this place pretty much out, but I figured I would put it on here for completeness sake. Signature: 2 rooms with around 200 more sq feet than above Largest working area including a fridge, wetbar, coffee, oven, etc. Large tub with a bit different shape than Mandalay (see pics) (big plus) The internet is wireless and I would be able to have everyone able to connect for one low price (comparatively) Due to our needs, I have had to choose a place with big suites which means they are one of the top hotels on the strip. This means that people will not be able to stay in the same hotel as the suite. There will be a few people sleeping in the suite to help cover the cost, and for the others, there are plenty of hotels around. I included the map of relative locations for help with this. Vegas.com is a decent place to see prices of the various hotels and would be a good tool to help. Also, you might consider "bunking up" with others to get the cost lower for you. I will change the wiki page accordingly and add a section to help with finding a roommate when I get a call back and finalize the hotel selection. Please respond with thoughts if you have any, as I am trying to get this settled as soon as possible to help with flights and other arrangements. >Don't worry about any date conflict with me though and just do the best >compromise without weighting it in. There's just too much going on (more >"why": serious stuff re: health issues in family) so I'm on the "maybe" >list but I really can't commit to anything. The only thing I'm sure of is >the time to spend with them up north and that must come first. At least >working on RB helps keep me sane through all the crud: no joke. I thought >I'd tell a little more why and who knows when things will setting down. I am worrying about it, but that is all the more reason to go! Hope this date sits better with you, but let me know. A vacation is good. ;) Received on 2007-04-28 Page template was last modified "Tue Sep 7 00:00:02 2021" The Rockbox Crew -- Privacy Policy |
