I'm sure it can help a lot! Telechips being one of them secret companies refusing to hand out data sheets, makes the effort rather big. Still quite doable of course. I think you should try to find such people outside of the Rockbox camp since most Rockbox users and devs own and use Rockbox-targets and they don't have telechips (yet)!
