Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2008 07:58:32 -0800 Hello Gentlemen, I'm a developer on the Rockbox <http://www.rockbox.org> project and recently imported ProFont into our distribution. It's been brought to my attention that the ProFont license explicitly says that redistribution is only allowed as an unmodified distribution, but in order to use ProFont in Rockbox, we needed to convert it to the .bdf format. I noticed what seemed to be some inconsistency between the font license and the ProFont Distribution license, the latter of which seemed directed more toward distributors of the font installation software designed to integrate ProFont as a replacement for Monaco in Mac OS, so it is also possible that we are reading the wrong blurb or missinterpreting the blurb. I was wondering if we could use a modified license to distribute this version, or if we can simply have your blessing to distribute the fonts in the .bdf font format. At this time we've simply included the complete profontdoc.txt file as found in the ProFont for windows zip file from Tobias Jung's site. I have gotten the impression that your intent is to have ProFont reach as wide of an audience as possible, as long as credit is given where it is deserved. I hope that this is an acceptable use of your excellent work, please let me know if it is not and we'll drop the converted fonts and simply link to them with instructions for conversion to .bdf.
