As far as I can see, we have very few targets where this would really
matter. Sure, we could save 30-40Kb of code, but it would not give a
measurable gain in battery time anyway on targets with more than 2
megabytes of memory. Heck, even if we saved 200Kb we would still barely
notice a difference.

In my opinion, it's not worth the effort.
