Subject: menu reorganising discussion

menu reorganising discussion

Hey all,
its generally accepted that the menus suck, so here is my attempt to
clean it up abit. It's not finished but its done enough that
discussion is probably a good idea. (I'm doing this here instead of
the wiki because I actually want this to happen, not just sit around
for months....)

Attached is my suggested layout (in ODF or xls so everyone is happy).
I did it in a spreadsheet because its easy to move items around.

Firslty... The ORDER of each submenu is not set.. they are just placed
where they fit.. they most likely will need reordering, but I wanted
to get the groups right first.

Features:
- commonly used settings are generally no more than 2 menus deep. (svn
is either the same level or 1 further down for these)
- not so common settings are 2+ down (svn 3+, bassically everything
moves up one)
- items are (imo) more logically placed
- the items which are in italics under settings/sound settings all
have their enable setting under playlist/sound setting. There was some
talk in irc about adding a single toggle inline setting into each of
those submenus so its obvious if it says "Enable: no" at the top of
the sub menu that the setting below wont take effect.
- "shuffle" "repeat" and "party mode" are not under the playlist/sound
settings menu. They are either next to it, or in a seperate submenu
next to it, im not sure which (I'm thinking they should be the first
options in playlist/

its hard to judge if its better or not without actually reworking to
code but I'd like some comments before going further.

Jonathan
