You can rename the folder just fine on windows. The issue is windows
explorer, as that doesn't allow you creating a file / folder with a
leading dot. It works fine from the command line. Rockbox Utility can
automatically make backups when updating, and the backup will get
stored in a folder called .backup (which can be changed).
