Subject: Categorized database

Categorized database

With Rockbox now supporting more than just audio file formats, including
pictures and videos, I wanted to explore the idea of expanding the "Database"
feature to cover those other file types too. This would allow for browsing and
searching pictures and videos in the same way that is currently possible for
audio files.

Furthermore, in addition to supporting multiple media file types, it might also
be useful to distinguish between the various categories of audio files, such as
audiobooks and podcasts. To that end, I thought that the top level menu of
the Database might be a listing of various categories of media. For example:

Music
Audiobooks
Podcasts
Pictures
Videos

I'm not at this point proposing any changes, but I would like to at least get
some opinions on this idea. My personal opinion is that I would love to be
able to use the database more uniformly for all of my media content, and not
just my audio files that contain music.

Any thoughts?

undone should be given, I suspect, a wide berth.
