I usually play safe and connect the charger when doing larger transfers to my X5, in which case this cannot happen. The iAudio X5/M5 have software assisted hardware charging. Charging is handled by the PCF50605, which handles most things itself but only charges slowly from USB by default. It needs periodic attention from the software to work around this. This is probably the reason why the H300 has a separate LiIon charger chip even though it also has a PCF50605.
