I can't answer your other question, but this is a spectacularly stupid
idea. It means that you need to keep a copy of Rockbox on every SD card
you plan to use, which could be many. Not only that, but when updating,
you need to copy the new version to each and every SD card.

Major, major hassle. Do not do it. Get some internal storage. Any amount
will do.

Seriously.
