Honestly, flash is so dirt cheap nowadays that I would suggest just getting
a 1GB or 2GB flash chip and sticking it onto the board. That way, you can
have the bootloader and Rockbox in internal storage, and have the SD card
free for music.

A much, much better idea, with less headaches involved.
