The animation is possible in skins too. People are just too lazy to put
effort into it :)
But I agree, the animation is really useful and I don't want to see it
gone too.

I've not seen it yet, and if it's lacking info I can't understand it.
Didn't JdGordon commit a number of recscreen related tags to have that
info available for skins?

It's not all about shiny bloat. Skinning allows for much more
information on the screen (that fit the users need) too.
