Just some facts:
- Notepad still can't handle LF at all, not even on Win7. What a shame.
- WScript (the VBS interpreter) *can* handle them.

Are there *any* files which actually need CRLF?

AFAICS setting eol-style to LF should work for everyone, except maybe
git users, who might have to do extra work.

Does *anybody* know of a case where LF line endings break something?
